Michael Aumiller, CPA, ESQ.Advisor Michael Aumiller is the President of Government Contract Advisors, LLC. Mike’s company specializes in regulatory, contractual, and financial consulting services for government contractors in the U.S. and internationally. He has helped organizations from start-up to Fortune 100 companies craft clear business strategy, optimize financial performance, and conform to the myriad requirements inherent in doing business with the federal government. Mike’s prior position was as the Chief Executive Officer for CCE, Inc. where he managed the successful integration of two recently merged global logistics U.S. Government contractors into a single $100 million entity. Mike spent over 17 years with Keller Bruner & Company, LLC (KBC) and RSM McGladrey, Inc. (RSM) leading their Federal Procurement Consulting practices. Mike, a partner with Keller Bruner, established the government contract consulting practice which was a critical value driver attracting RSMs acquisition of KBC in December of 2000. Mike developed a profitable Government Contract Consulting organization from a one person practice in a regional firm to the core of a national Government Contractor industry Go to Market strategy generating $40 million revenue annually from financial, tax, merger & acquisition (M&A), and other consulting activity for the 5th largest accounting and consulting firm in the U.S. Some of his experience and accomplishments with RSM and KBC include: providing subject matter expertise for contract audit dispute resolution and litigation support, testifying as an expert by U.S. attorneys in support of one of the largest cases ever litigated by the United States Department of Justice Civil Fraud Division; performing M&A due diligence for buyers and sellers on over $1 billion of transactions involving Government contractors, leading critical engagements with companies new to the Government contract or the grant arena, and establishing essential corporate ethics and procurement integrity programs. Prior to his time with KBC and RSM, Mike managed the government compliance function for ARINC and was an Internal Audit Manager for Martin Marietta. Mike has been a long time member of the Maryvale Prepatory School for Girls’ Board of Trustees and currently serves as Treasurer. David J. Fink, Ph.D. Advisor David Fink is the Director of Entrepreneurial Services at techcenter@UMBC. His career in biotechnology and biomedical product development spans over 30 years as a researcher, research manager, consultant, entrepreneur and officer of several start-up biotech companies. Dave was trained in chemical engineering at the Universities of Cincinnati and Michigan and was a post-doctoral fellow in biochemistry at Purdue University. He then joined Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, Ohio where he conducted and managed research on over 100 projects over a 12-year period. In 1986, Dave founded his own biomedical consulting business, Bio-Integration Inc., which was active until 1997. In 1988, he founded and served as President of CollaTek, Inc., in collaboration with Gattefossé SA of Lyon, France, to develop and commercialize technology licensed from Battelle for manufacturing collagen-based medical implants. Dave became the second employee of Osiris Therapeutics at the time it was founded in 1993. Osiris is a Baltimore tissue regeneration company with a platform technology based on adult stem cells. In 1997, Dave became Vice President for International Technology Development and was responsible for planning and coordination of all international programs and collaborations conducted by Osiris, including a major corporate partnership with Novartis Pharma, Basel, Switzerland. Dave joined Chondros, a start-up cell therapy company in Baltimore, as its first employee in 2001, and he continued as its President and COO until November 2003. Dave continues to consult with companies in the biotechnology field by assessing business plans, preparing federal grant applications and evaluating technology transfer and new business opportunities. He participates in UMBCs ACTiVATE program for training women engineers to start technology-based companies. He is a member of the Technology Advisory Committee of the Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse, and the techcenter@UMBC Business Advisory Board. He has authored 40 scientific papers and book chapters, and he has been awarded 21 U.S. patents. Bjorn Frogner, Ph. D. Advisor Bjorn Frogner is the Entrepreneur in Residence at the UMBC Clean Energy Technology Incubator. He has more than 35 years of experience across a broad range of technologies; much of it related to IT and energy. During the first ten years of his career, he developed advanced monitoring systems in support of operations of nuclear power plants. He then was the principal developer of a heat rate diagnostic expert system for nuclear and coal-fired power plants. Bjorn also did much R&D in the area of computer network performance and was Principal Investigator on several artificial intelligence applications funded by Department of Energy and other U.S. government agencies. In total, Bjorn has been the project lead on ten Small Business Innovation Research projects. He has strong technical and business experience in software management, design, development, and marketing. Bjorn has a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley. He has experience as an engineer, manager, executive, entrepreneur, and professor. He has co-founded five startup companies and has traveled many times to China in support of a group of entrepreneurs promoting U.S. technology to Chinese power companies. Bjorn has published 26 referenced papers in technical journals and conference proceedings. As a part-time professor for 10 years, he taught entrepreneurship, macroeconomics, and MIS. |
